Anonymous posting

An anonymous forum where you choose, post by post

Some things are easier to ask without your name attached. On duxb every post has a "Post anonymously" switch. Flip it and the post shows as Anonymous everywhere, and so do your replies in that thread, so you can't give yourself away. No throwaway accounts, no second login.

How anonymous is it?

Other members and search engines only ever see "Anonymous". The post and your comments in it don't appear on your profile. Notifications to others say "the anonymous poster replied" with no link to you. The only people who can see the name are you, the site admin (for abuse) and the community's elected stewards in their review queue, so moderation keeps working.

What you keep

Your account, your karma, your inbox and your private messages. You decide for each post: anonymous for the health question, your name on the holiday photos.

Rules still apply

Anonymous posts follow the same community rules as any other post, and can be reported, removed or appealed in the same way.

Questions

Can people find out who posted?

Not from the site. There's no username, no profile link and no connection between your anonymous and normal posts that anyone can see. Be careful with what you write: details in the text itself can still identify you.

Can I post anonymously in any community?

Yes, in every community, including ones you joined under your name.

Can I switch a post back?

Delete it and post again with the switch off. Anonymity is decided when you post.

Ready?

It takes a minute, and it's free.
