Reddit alternative

The Reddit alternative where communities belong to their members

Everything you came to Reddit for: communities about anything, posts, threaded comments and upvotes. What's different is who's in charge. On duxb, nobody can take over a community: the people who run it are elected by members, every removal and ban is public, and members can vote to reverse any decision.

How moderation works

Anyone can start a community and becomes its first steward, not its owner. Members who have been active can nominate themselves, and members elect them. Every steward action needs a written reason and appears in the community's public log. Bans are temporary, and removals and bans can be overturned by a member vote. Inactive stewards step down automatically.

Everything you expect

Text, link and image posts (images are shrunk on your device before upload), YouTube embeds, crossposting, flairs, spoilers, NSFW tags, an inbox with replies and mentions, private messages, a public photo album on your profile, dark mode and your own colour theme. It installs as an app on your phone.

Made for people, not engagement

No ads, no tracking pixels, no algorithm deciding what you see. Your home feed is simply the communities you joined, sorted how you like.

Questions

Is duxb really free?

Yes. There are no paid tiers, ads or tracking. It's run by the people who use it.

Can I move my community from Reddit?

Yes. Create it here in under a minute, set your colours and rules, and invite your members. Anyone can crosspost links from elsewhere.

What stops a bad steward?

Members. Any member can start a recall vote; to vote, an account must be a few days old and have been in the community for a while, so a crowd of fresh accounts can't take a community over either.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. It's a fast web app that you can install from the browser menu, with no app store needed.

Ready?

It takes a minute, and it's free.
